Chicago
Chicago
Frozen moments in Chicago.
The pandemic had wrapped Chicago in a stillness that was both captivating and unsettling. As I walk through the deserted streets my camera became an extension of my curiosity.
Every snap of the shutter felt like a heartbeat, capturing the frozen moments of a city in slumber, the skyscrapers stood like sentinels, their windows reflecting the pale blue sky.
The Willis Tower, once a symbol of the city’s vibrant spirit now loomed above me like a sentinel. I snapped photos of the empty streets the shutter clicks a reminder that I was not alone in this desolate land .
In millennium Park the “cloud gate’ sculpture known affectionately as The Bean seemed to mirror the emptiness around it. Yes, its curved surface also reflected the beauty of the surrounding landscape .
As I stroll along the lake Michigan shoreline, the wind carried the whispers of the city past finest .
I thought of my sister who used to call this city home. I remembered the countless hours we spent exploring its streets, laughing and arguing over the best deep dish pizza. The pandemic had taken so much from us , but it couldn’t take away the memories we`d made in this beloved city.
In this surreal landscape, time seemed to stand still. The city’s energy was paused ,waiting for the moment when life would burst forth once again.
And when I did, I knew that Chicago’s resilience and spirit would shine brighter than ever.
